The Orquestra Inventada: a new festive and committed voice for Catalan culture

Interview conducted on Ona Mediterrània with Albert Guitart, member of the Invented Orchestra, on the occasion of the release of the single Company Ro
As part of the 2025 Sant Jordi celebrations, and following the emotional release of the single Company Rocamora, Ona Mediterrània radio gifted us an interview full of authenticity and passion. Hosted by Tomeu Martí, the show allowed us to discover first-hand the spirit and intentions of one of the freshest and most significant musical projects of the year: the Orquestra Inventada (Invented Orchestra).

A project born of experimentation and commitment

Albert Guitart, a member of the collective, presented the project as:

"A musical experimentation, composing songs with the help of digital tools and other resources."

La Maketa, their first complete work, will be released on May 1st. However, the band has decided to offer an early gift: two songs full of meaning, Que la terra et sigui lleu, company Rocamora ("Sit tibi terra levis, comrade Rocamora") and Volem més Català! ("We want more Catalan!"), both already available on major streaming platforms and as background music for your photos and edits on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, for Zoomers, Millennials, and xBoomers respectively 😜

An homage and a call

Que la terra et sigui lleu, company Rocamora is a heartfelt tribute to Joan Rocamora, an activist and independentist militant "linked to many organizations in our country", who passed away last November. The Orquestra Inventada honors him with tenderness and commitment, connecting to the imagery of intimate journeys and loyalty to the people, inspired by Llach and Kavafis' Ithaca.

Alongside it, Volem més Català! emerges as a festive anthem, intended to resonate on Sant Jordi and many more occasions. As Guitart explained:

"The intention was to make a positive and festive reivindication, welcoming newcomers by speaking to them in our language."

It is a call to strengthen the social use of the Catalan language among all Catalans, wherever they come from, and a message aimed at breaking the discourse of hate and xenophobia: You are not only welcome, we need you — let’s grow Catalan together.

A new way to build popular music

This positive, community-driven approach also reflects in the group's working method: first, they publish their demos, gauge the audience's response, and then prepare for live tours. As Guitart said:

"We'll see the response and then finish preparing everything to go out and tour."

The Orquestra Inventada encourages entities and collectives to include Volem més Català! in their celebrations. As Guitart invited:

"If they feel this festive reivindication fits, they can use it, of course."

From our editorial team, we wholeheartedly celebrate the birth of this brave project, a true "barricade with a guitar" that blends music, culture, and resistance with fresh and constructive energy. A trajectory that promises to become essential in the musical and cultural scene of the Catalan-speaking territories.
